    • a flat Paint brush for painting background (up to 3 cm)
  • Sticks, Pencils, Skewers, Cotton buds
  • Sponge
  • Paints – a set of coloured acrylic paints
  • Artists pallet – plastic
  • Pencil – grey lead

What each of these is used for

  • Blank canvas – canvas board or stretched canvas or even an old board preferably flat
  • Brushes – small & larger
    • Small for the finer work
    • Large for covering larger areas and shapes
    • Flat Paint brush – (3 – 5 cm) for covering with a single colour for the background
  • Sticks, Pencils, Skewers, Cotton buds – these can be used for dots – its about what you have available
  • Sponge – for dabbing background and blending colours on canvas
  • Paints – a set of acrylic paints plus white.
    • These can be found in many bargain shops, or Lincraft or Spotlight. If you are after good quality then an art supply shop can inform you about the different qualities of the brands.
  • Artists pallet – this is to put the paint on and to mix colours- a plastic lid will do for starters
  • Pencil – for sketching ideas.

Other things you might need

  • An old sheet for an art table cloth
  • Cotton cleaning rags
  • A jar or tin or plastic container for water and cleaning brushes
  • Paper for drawing on
  • Sticks from your garden for painting with.
  • Paints that you already have.
